MESSAGE FOR THE WORLD MISSION SUNDAY – GIVING ONE’S LIFE AS A RANSOM FOR MANY

By Angelo, sx

Friends, since no one is free from the desire of having a place of honor, as the apostles James and John request to Jesus  in the Gospel of this Sunday (Mark 10: 35-45), I post this video titled “Lightheaded” together with a short reflection in order to enlighten our thoughts and attitudes on how to be disciples of Jesus Christ. Self-giving, obedience and service are the right path to have a sharing in the  Mission, Redemption and Glory of Jesus Christ.

For that reason, there is no short-cut to reach honor in the kingdom of God. Sharing Jesus’ kingdom, demands sharing his way to the Kingdom which consists of going through passion-death-resurrection.  In fact, the great ones, blessed and exalted are not those who seek for the power of this world, but rather those who look for the power and authority of Jesus. His power dwells on the power of service and His authority resides on the attitude of lowering Himself before his disciples. This is the power of Jesus’ Mission. And this should be the kind of ‘power’ to be learned by all missionaries and to be shared in any missionary activity as well. In fact, “For that reason the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a ransom for many”.  (Mark 10:35)

Enjoy this video and …your comments are most welcome!

  1. Amen to this brother! Our mission is to serve and not to be served. Obeying Him and helping others to carry their crosses even we are struggling in our own.
