Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

“May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk, 1: 38).

On December 08, Catholics over the world celebrate the solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. It is not just one more title attributed to this dear mother.  Rather it is a dogma of the Catholic Church which professes that Mary became blessed and privileged by a singular grace granted by God. And for  the merits of the Jesus’s mission she was preserved free from all stain of original sin.

In this line, the company of the blessed Mary is the most welcome in our journey towards Redemption in Jesus Christ. Mary has it very clear the salvation plan of God for humanity. By personal experience She knows the way and is ready to guide every one who calls her Mother and requests her intercession. In fact, devotion to the Blessed Mary nourishes the life of ones faith. The encounter between Mary and the Word of God (Lk1: 26-38) inspires and encourages us to respond positively  when we are confronted by the Word of God too. In this “ mysterious encounter” it is very human that fear comes out. On the other side is very divine that fear is overcome by faith moving fleshes, minds and hearts to heavenly truth. For that reason may our encounter with the word of God  lead us to discipleship. May we through the intercession of the Immaculate Mother be “full of grace” and imitate her saying: “May it be done to me according to your word” (Lk, 1: 38).

  1. thank you angelo with your short but inspiring theological reflection on the Immaculate Conception. you are influence now by your theological studies and reflection.

  2. I think it was Pope Pius IX(?), the papal infalibility. He was in front of the BVM. Mary said to him, you are infallible. And Pius IX answered, you are immaculate.
